upcoming ce classes for yoga instructors
Yoga can be a very important part of recovering from an injury, and injury prevention. Unfortunately, in most 200 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, there simply isn't enough time to really dive into the anatomy of injuries, the body systems, and the important muscles and energies involved. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities for continuing education classes outside of the basic 200 hour training to focus on how to best support students who are using Yoga as part of their recovery regiment.
Injuries often have an emotional component involved, which is why we also look at the Esoteric part of the anatomy. When people are going through certain emotional issues in their lives, certain parts of their body may be weakened, or more prone to physical injury. When a physical injury occurs, the emotions surrounding that injury can get locked into the connective tissue surrounding it, creating both emotional and physical scar tissue.
Neuroscientists call our fascia, our connective tissue, our body's consciousness. It relays information faster than our nervous system, and it goes through and around every cell and fiber in our bodies.
Yoga provides an opportunity for people to work on releasing restricted scar tissue, both physically and emotionally, and strengthening areas that need attention. This is why it is important that Yoga Teachers have a solid understanding of the human bodies they are working with. More knowledge creates better understanding. With better understanding comes greater support for your students.

Esoteric Anatomy - Hormones and Chakras: 12 Hour Class
Get a basic understanding of the role fascia plays in our body and explore the connection between our fascial system, endocrine (hormone) system and our Chakras. Learn the anatomy of each chakra, how they interact with the endocrine glands and functions, and how imbalances of one can affect the other. We will discuss the 3 P's of Imbalance and how they manifest: Physically, Physiologically, and Psychologically. If you've ever wondered how deeply our emotions and experiences affect our bodies, this is the perfect class for you! Special focus in the endocrine system will be spent on the interactions between the thyroid, adrenals and reproductive glands, and the resulting pathologies of imbalance.
Open to the public, and eligible for CE hours with Yoga Alliance for Yoga Instructors.
Musculoskeletal System: Anatomy of an Injury (4 hour class)
