Dynamic Yoga Flow Classes
Every Tuesday 11:30-12:45 at Under Livet/ Yoga Livet, Oslo
This class is a mixture of Vinyasa flow and Slings Myofascial Yoga to create stability and movement within your Myofascial system. It is not your typical Vinyasa class, so leave your expectations at home. This class is best for people who have done some yoga, but you by no means need to be an advanced Yogi. There will be emphasis on proper positioning to protect your body from injury and modifications for anyone working through injury recovery. The flow is moderate, with adequate warm up and cool down time, and enough movement to feel like you've worked out your muscles.
Slings Myofascial Yoga works with training the different movement qualities of fascia: Tensile Strength, Muscle Collaboration, Force Transmission, Adaptability, Mulitdimensionality, Fluidity, Glide, Elasticity, Plasticity, Tone Regulation, and Kinaesthesia. Vinyasa yoga focuses on breath with movement with classic Vinyasa Yoga Asanas. Together, they make up a dynamic yoga flow class that encourages flexibility and stability while maintaining awareness of proper breathing techniques with movement.
Classes will be built in 10 week courses, at NOK 2650 for a 10 class card. Drop-ins are welcome at NOK 280 per class. MUST register 1 hour prior to class.

Where do you “carry your stress”? Can repressed emotions and trauma cause pain and illness in the body? In this short 2 days series, we delve into where the metaphysical meets modern science and anatomy. We discuss the chakra energy system, and how it interacts with our physiology to influence how we feel in our bodies and affect our overall health and well being. Join us to learn about chakras, fascia, and the mind-body connection, while picking up some helpful tools to address these “issues in our tissues”.
In this workshop we will explore the fascial and chakra systems, their connections to our endocrine (hormone) system, and how our experiences and emotions can affect our health, our well-being and our physical body.
Day 1: Introduction to Chakra and Myofascial anatomy
Learn about what fascia is and how it carries, stores, and transports information and emotions throughout the body and how it coincides with the chakra system. Learn the chakra's locations, functions, and their relationship with your physiology.
Day 2: Mind Body Connection and Manifestations
How and where do we tend to carry emotions in the body? In this class we will discuss how and where emotions and traumas manifest physically, and common holding patterns. Guided visualizations and other tools will be introduced to work on connecting and releasing these painful patterns.
What is a Chakra?
Chakras are energy centers in our body. The most important chakras (seven in total) go from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. The chakra was first mentioned in the ancient Vedas, the Hindu knowledge books and the roots of yoga. The chakras regulate our energy flow.
Chakra symbolism and function
Each chakra has specific symbolism associated with it, including color, symbol, lotus leaves, element and animal that represent its functionality. We will discuss these symbols and what they represent, and focus on the function of each chakra. Each chakra also correlates to areas of daily life and one's general state of health and well-being. Blocked or misaligned chakras may indicate trauma or dis-regulation in that region. Every feeling, sensation and experience is connected to a particular Chakra. Emotional experiences, trauma, or stress can cause the chakra (s) to become unbalanced, and this manifests itself as a disease in your physical and emotional body. Likewise, physical damage can have an effect on the functionality of the chakras associated with the physical region of your body. This can result in a pattern of weakness, chronic pain or discomfort after an injury has been physically healed.
Chakra anatomy and hormonal system:
Learn the anatomy of each chakra, how they interact with endocrine glands and functions, and how imbalance in one chakra can affect the others. We will have a special focus on the endocrine system and on the interaction between the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands and the reproductive glands, as well as the resulting pathologies that occur due to. of imbalance. There are 7 endocrine (hormone) that regulate every function in our body. We will discuss the hormones that each gland secretes and what they do in your body. Hormones regulate our growth, sleep, immune system, digestion, metabolism, blood sugar levels, bone density, fertility, nervous system response, emotions and stress response, blood pressure, muscle density and energy levels. When you are out of balance, it affects our body and the other glands in a very noticeable way. The location of endocrine glands matches the location of the chakras, physically or functionally.
We will discuss the imbalances and how they manifest themselves in three different ways:
Physical: Learn where in the body we tend to carry certain experiences, emotions or stressors. There are common emotional holding patterns that cause physical tension, discomfort or chronic pain.
Physiological: Each chakra not only applies to an endocrine gland, but also controls a system of the body. When there are emotional or energetic blocks in a chakra, it can affect the functionality of the system controlled by that chakra.
Psychological: We discuss what emotions and dominant personality traits can be experienced when a chakra is either overactive or deficient. This also helps us to understand which areas of the body we may hold certain beliefs, experiences, emotions or mental traumas that may contribute to the imbalance or blockage that causes the others of imbalance.
Masculine and feminine energy:
Another important factor discussed in this class is the role of the masculine and feminine energies, and how it is related to various physical imbalances. In Eastern and Vedic philosophies, the balance between masculine and feminine energies and how they manifest in our body is a very important concept.
If you have ever wondered how deeply our emotions and experiences affect our body, this is the perfect class for you!
Along with the lively discussion in class, we will spend time doing guided visualizations to bring our awareness and focus on the chakras as we learn them.
Who is the workshop for?
Anyone interested in chakra and understanding themselves better! The workshop also qualifies for CE classes with the Yoga Alliance for Yoga Instructors.
Anatomy of Injuries Workshop
Where: Under Livet, Oslo, Norway or online via Zoom
When: TBD
6 Hours
Cost: NOK 1250
The specialization course in injury physiology will give you knowledge, both theoretical and practical, about injury anatomy, the tissue repair process, acute and chronic injuries, and the difference between muscle pain and nerve pain. You will learn about the body's response to an injury, the physiology behind healing and how yoga can be used in a safe way as part of training and rehabilitation.
The course consists of four topics, where each topic is divided into a lecture part and an active practice part. The lecture will include the doctrine of soft tissue, fascia (connective tissue), the large muscles, bones and tendons around a joint. The active practice will consist of learning that helps strengthen the supporting muscles and how to make modifications to avoid deterioration or re-damage the joints.
In this in-depth course we will discuss common injuries and pathologies for all major joints in the body. Each module will begin with soft tissue and injury anatomy, including the tissue repair process, focusing on a specific area of the body. We will assess the difference between an acute and chronic injury, and how we can tell the difference between muscle pain and nerve pain.
We will discuss the basic anatomy of the joints we focus on that day, and discuss good yoga practices for training, as well as modifying different yoga postures and how we can use yoga safely in the various stages of the training period.
Topic 1: Feet, ankles and knees:
The pathologies (injuries) we will address are: pronation / supination, plantar fasciitis, sprained ankle, torn ligament in the knee, meniscus injuries, Patellar Tendonitis, and ITB syndrome.
Topic 2: Hips, abdomen and lower back / lumbar spine:
The pathologies (injuries) that we will look at are: piriformis syndrome, sciatica, lordosis, prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunction, hernia, and diastasis recti (separated abdominal muscles).
Topic 3: Rest of the back, neck and shoulders:
The injuries you will learn about will include prolapse, scoliosis, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, kyphosis, whiplash, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome and pec minor syndrome.
Topic 4: Arms:
We take a short review of the shoulder before moving on to the elbows and wrists. The injuries we will discuss are: Frozen Shoulder (review), Golf elbow, Tennis elbow, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. This is an excellent class for those who want to learn how to protect their wrists in their yoga practice, or offer modifications for students who need to do so.

Intuitive Healing Massage Level 1
NEW LOCATION AND DATES TBD
Definition: Psycho-Myofascial Release, or energetic deep tissue, this bodywork goes deeper than the hands to release the root causes of the issues in our tissues. It is an intuitive, client-led type of bodywork that combines the knowledge of the muscles and connective tissue with extra focus on the chakras and psychological influences on deeper holding patterns in the body. There is a strong physiological component of understanding how cell memory and transference work in the body, especially in regards to the connective tissue system. Understanding the eastern teachings of the chakra system and Reiki, and combining it with the western teachings and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, this bodywork creates a bridge between the two worlds of thought to get a bigger picture and understanding of all the influences on the body. It is through this understanding that we can learn to listen better to our client’s bodies through our hands and intuition and provide a massage that accesses not only the fascia, but the deeper tissues and the psycho-emotional issues that reside there.
Goals of the class: To teach students all the relatable anatomy of common holding areas and the issues that reside there, physically, emotionally, and energetically.
Students will learn:
- An overview of the anatomy of the chakra system (including an overview of endocrine glands and body systems relating to each chakra).
- The muscles in the joints of the body that are common injury sites - both emotionally and physically.
- How to clear and ground their own energy to be better conduits of intuition, as well as learn how to receive information from their client’s bodies.
- Practical massage and myofascial techniques to assist the release of tension and increase healing in their client's bodies.
Advanced Intuitive Healing Massage Level 2
NEW LOCATION AND DATES TBD
Building on the principles and practice of the first Intuitive Massage workshop, the course delves a little deeper into the anatomy of the fascial system, and how emotions and memory can transfer through the tissue. Different techniques are taught and explored that work with and access this tissue both passively and actively. This course is open to those who have completed Intuitive Healing Massage Level 1.
Anatomy of the Nervous System:
Where: Under Livet, Oslo, Norway
Approved CE class for Yoga Alliance Instructors
2 Hours
Cost: NOK 500
Register:
Learn a little more about how the nervous system works, and how it is affected by yoga, lifestyle and modern technology. This workshop will give you a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the nervous system and how it regulates your body.
The nervous system is the most complex and most organized system in the body. It receives information from the sensory organs via nerves, transmits the information through the spinal cord and processes it in the brain. The nervous system directs the body's reactions to the world and also controls most of our internal functions, everything from muscle movement to blood vessel dilation. It creates our perceptions of the world around us, and how we respond to them.
How does the nervous system handle all this? By sending lightning fast signals, electrical and chemical, between cells.
The nervous system plays a role in almost every aspect of our health and well-being. It guides daily activities such as waking up; automatic activities such as breathing; and complex processes such as thinking, reading, remembering and feeling emotions. The nervous system controls the growth and development of the brain, and every bodily function. Our daily lives have a long-lasting effect on our nervous system, and how we react physically and physiologically to external stimuli or situations. Stress is a common emotion that affects our nervous system on a regular basis. However, the response of the nervous system is not just limited to stress. How we react to emotions and experiences is also determined by nerve banners that were formed at a young age. It is said that the brain is first fully developed around the age of 23-24.
How Do Yoga and Meditation Affect the Nervous System?
Yoga and meditation have long been studied to find out the effect these practices have on the nervous system. In this workshop, we will look at various scientific studies that have been done to show how yoga and meditation affect brain and nervous system function and how stress and other physio-emotional reactions are affected. We will discuss the fantastic adaptability to the nervous system, and the different ways it can be reprogrammed or even "hacked". This involves various techniques, including the use of technology, light, movement and therapies to "reprogram" the nervous system.
Does modern technology affect the nervous system?
Our cells specialize in continuing electrical currents. Electricity is needed for the nervous system to send signals throughout the body and to the brain, enabling us to move, think and feel. Since the nervous system is seen as an internal electrical system, there is growing concern about how our advanced external electrical technology affects our internal system. Technological advances of mankind, through the development of electrical and communication technologies, have resulted in exposure to artificial electromagnetic fields (EMF). Technological growth is expected to continue; as such, the amount of EMF exposure will continue to increase steadily. In particular, the useful life of smartphones, which has become a necessity for modern people, is constantly increasing. Social concerns and interest in the effect on the cranial nervous system increase when considering the area where the mobile phone is used. Another area of concern and study is the effect on different screens and their influence on brain development and function. In this workshop, we will review objective scientific studies that have been done in this field and look at what we know and what is still unknown. We will focus on the central and peripheral nervous system, although we will briefly look at the other localized nervous systems in the cardiovascular system and in the digestive system.
Who is the workshop for?
Yoga teachers and Yoga therapists, Pilates instructors, masseurs, others who work with the body, stress, etc. and you who are curious and want to learn more. For Yoga teachers, the workshop gives approved YogaAlliance points as part of your further education.
